Oireactas – a Gaelic gathering

The signs in Dublin are written in Gaelic and English, but you wouldn’t know that Gaelic is the mother tongue unless you attend an event like this. Grainne, her friend Deirdre and I went to the start of this Gaelic gathering. Grainne was my translator for this.

Entrance into Newgrange

A Neolithic site that has been excavated. Older then Stonehenge, but functions in a similar way. On the winter solstice the light from the sun shines onto the floor inside. Tara Hill can be seen from outside and it is speculated that the two groups were able to be in communication.
